Soldiers guarding the Queen had to beat a hasty retreat when this creepy-crawly popped up in their grub.
The stomach-churning surprise, said to have been dished up at a barracks close to Windsor Castle, was filmed by a shocked squaddie who posted the footage online.
One colleague joked: “Extra free protein! They charge for that usually.”
An insider added: “It looks like something you’d see on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!”
Sources say the food came from civilian chefs employed by an outsourcing firm.
One senior source said: “It raises serious questions over hygiene. There has been mounting criticism over the quality of food that is served to soldiers.
“Social media now provides a useful complaints book for soldiers who previously had to suffer in silence.”
An Army spokesperson said: “We are committed to ensuring personnel receive good quality meals. We are working with our supply chain to investigate this matter.”
